How did you land your current position at Kerkhoff and what made you decide on this career path?
I got to know Kerkhoff through a university fair and started with an internship two years ago.
During the three months, I was lucky enough to be involved in two exciting projects and immediately realised that I felt very comfortable with the day-to-day consulting work, the subject areas and, above all, the team at Kerkhoff.
It was therefore very obvious for me to start my first permanent position at Kerkhoff.
What skills or insights have you acquired since you started at Kerkhoff that have helped you to grow successfully into the role of a consultant?
Of course, we spend most of our time working with PowerPoint and Excel, so I'm constantly learning new tricks.
However, the soft skills that you quickly build up in day-to-day consulting are particularly valuable to me.
Whether it's how to present yourself to the customer, how to be a team player with your colleagues or how to take responsibility for yourself and your tasks.
Can you describe a typical working day as a consultant at Kerkhoff?
Everyday working life varies depending on whether a project is carried out on site or remotely. My daily routine is currently characterised by numerous calls with customers and colleagues.
We deal with specific work topics ranging from logistics and inventory management to production issues, but also with classic project management, such as the preparation and follow-up of meetings and the preparation of general project documents for communication to the customer.
Which projects or tasks have you enjoyed the most so far and which have been the most defining for you?
As a Associate (formerly Consultant Analyst), I was also lucky enough to be assigned to a project on day 1. We initially supported a PA and then moved on to implementation, so I was able to start straight away.
What I find particularly exciting is the opportunity to familiarise myself with the logistics processes and their optimisation potential at the customer.
I also really enjoy getting creative when preparing presentations, developing solutions together with colleagues and achieving milestones with the project team.
What would you recommend to other Young Talents/other women who are interested in consulting?
Just do it and don't be put off by challenges. Consultancy offers numerous opportunities to develop further and gain valuable experience.
It is important to believe in yourself, be open to new things and actively demand responsibility - as a young talent, consulting is definitely a valuable foundation for your future career path.
