Kerkhoff Consults Head of SPD Gabriel (chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Germany)

Gerd Kerkhoff is not only founder and general manager of the Düsseldorf-based consultancy Kerkhoff Consulting, but he is also the initiator of a circle of 40 people from the management boards of major German corporate groups and medium-sized companies.

Everybody is capable of learning. Even the chairman of the German Social Democrats. But Sigmar Gabriel not only wants his party colleagues to tell him how the economy works. The head of the SPD wants to hear independent views on decisions and thought structures. That's what Gabriel will also be able to hear from Gerd Kerkhoff. The founder and general manager of the consultancy Kerkhoff Consulting from Düsseldorf is also the initiator of a circle of 40 people from the management boards of major German corporate groups and medium-sized companies. The non-partisan circle will consult Gabriel. "Important for me are the manifold opinions and perspectives I'm getting from this high-caliber team", says Sigmar Gabriel. Party affiliation plays no role. Much rather, the chairman of the SPD considers it essential to discuss, with this group of people, current economic topics and thus get inspirations for the economic orientation of his politics.

"It's an honor for me to explain to Mr. Gabriel my view of developments in economic policy", says Gerd Kerkhoff. "In my opinion, this dialog is important – even if the opinions are not always congruent, of course." Kerkhoff is not a member of any political party. But he had always been interested in politics since it would provide the framework for economic activities, as Kerkhoff says.

Actually, however, Gerd Kerkhoff is disappointed: "The current discussion on savings takes place on two levels only: Where can support measures by the state be reduced, and how can more revenue be obtained", says Kerkhoff. "Nobody publicly asks the question of how to reduce costs in purchasing goods and services." But Gabriel will now be prepared to listen well to Kerkhoff & Co.
