| Campus Symposium - Sustainability: Crucial Topic In All Sectors |
| Panel discussions during the event combine different views |
| Countless goods are being transported every day from one place to another. Whether by aircraft, ship or truck – inventories are distributed, refilled, arranged in a well-conceived manner. Logistics is one of the most important areas in the chain from production to final sales. For that reason, leading logistics people will participate in a panel discussion on the subject of "Green Logistics" on the first day of the event within the scope of the Campus Symposium. One of the participants of the panel discussion is Arnold Schroven, CEO of DPD, the international parcel and express services provider. "Sustainability is indispensable in such an important area as logistics", he explains. Green orientation of logistics The logistics chain is considered an important factor for the entire economy in the development of sustainable processes. Accordingly, logistics would have a particularly responsibility – for ecological sustainability for example. Other participants in the panel discussion also include Dr. Ottmar Gast, speaker of the management of Hamburg Süd Germany, and Frank Wiemer, member of the board of the REWE Group; they will critically scrutinize to what extent the green orientation of logistics can actually influence entire companies and thus make an essential contribution to a more sustainable environment. Another panel discussion will take place on the second day of the event: Participants will here discuss the consequences of the financial crisis and how they can be handled such that the economy will be strengthened for a long time when emerging from the crisis. "At the same time, the question will be as to how much sustainability companies can afford in times of crises", this is how the concept is explained by Malte Bruins from the symposium's organization team and responsible for the speaker support. The panel discussions are to bring together different opinions and thus help guests of the business conference to critically question and further develop their own views. "The Campus Symposium in Iserlohn emphasizes a very important success factor of the sustained success of a company: the supply chain. In my lecture, I want to make it clear to what extent a supply chain based on sustainability principles can make a contribution for long-lasting company success. One key factor is purchasing. There are numerous approaches here to accept ecological and social responsibility. Accordingly, I am very pleased to be able to take an active part in the event."
