| Düsseldorf, May 30, 2011 – Kerkhoff Consulting won the "Best of Consulting 2011" award by Wirtschaftswoche. Once a year, the German weekly business news magazine votes for the best consultancies by evaluating the quality of consulting work with their clients. In 2010 already, Editor-in-Chief Roland Tichy presented Kerkhoff Consulting with the award as the best purchasing and supply chain consultancy in Germany. This year, the consultancy came in second in the contest. |
"Three years in a row, our company received an important award for our quality in consulting", said Gerd Kerkhoff, Managing Director and founder of Kerkhoff Consulting. In 2009, the business magazine CAPITAL named Kerkhoff Consulting a "Hidden Champion of the Consultancy Market". In 2010, Kerkhoff Consulting took first place in the category Supply Chain Management in the "Best of Consulting" contest by Wirtschaftswoche. Kerkhoff: "Our clients thus confirm to the independent jury members who evaluated us: We are meeting our claim as a quality leader. I want to thank all our employees who work very hard every day to further improve our services in terms of quality and thus satisfy our clients beyond their expectations."
In 2011, Kerkhoff Consulting had applied for the "Best of Consulting" award with a project at KACO new energy GmbH (KACO for short). KACO GmbH from Neckarsulm is a specialist for the production of photovoltaic inverters and has sales of more than € 300 million per year.
The objective for consultants from Kerkhoff Consulting: Production was to be increased due to the great demand for KACO products. However, the pertinent parts, components and raw materials were missing in purchasing. Also, tier 1 suppliers were unable to meet demands for their products because they too had the problem of not being able to make enough purchases for optimum utilization of their production. In the years 2009 and 2010, a team from Kerkhoff Consulting had first analyzed the entire external supply chain; the team then remodeled the chain – starting with the raw material suppliers – to realize a higher production output for the pertinent supplier and sub-supplier. That's how it was finally also possible to supply KACO with greater quantities and significantly increase their own production. "Due to these measures, our sales increased by more than 50 percent", said Jens Wagner, Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) of KACO. "The project has been a complete success for us."
Background of the contest: The contest is based on a study conducted by the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Management und Beratung (WGMB – Academic Society for Management and Consulting) on behalf of Wirtschaftswoche. In a first round, clients were interviewed in terms of their satisfaction, and a project was evaluated. In round two, based on the interview by WGMB, a jury selected the best consultancies in their respective management disciplines. The jury included, inter alia, Dietmar Fink, Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Norbert Gronau, Professor at the University of Potsdam, and Roland Tichy, Editor-in-Chief of Wirtschaftswoche.
