| handwerk magazin: What's the focus of attention for companies in terms of sustained purchasing? Jens Hornstein: Many companies automatically connect it with an increase in procurement costs. But that's wrong. Decisive is a comprehensive view; then, sustained purchasing may possibly even save costs. How can companies plausibly implement "sustainability"? This subject requires comprehensive considerations. First of all, it must be analyzed what adjusting screws exist for credible procurement policies and how the company can position itself as compared with the competition. How important are quality seals? When companies advertise with various labels, they need to be sure that these labels are also meaningful and informative. Currently, there are a great many labels that have some latitude in interpretation. Accordingly, not all test seals are equally recommendable. How should companies proceed? If they want to be taken seriously, they need to do more than just stick labels on their products. General management must firmly embed sustainability in the organization and also integrate suppliers. |
