"We are pleased about another performance confirmation by clients and consulting colleagues and, at the same time, we want to extend our gratitude to our employees who are doing, every day, a great job at our clients'. 2015 Hidden Champion

CAPITAL

The Hidden Champions of the consulting market were identified for the fifth time in 2015. The aim of the study is to identify, using a structured, in-depth survey of management from large companies and SMEs, which specialist consulting company is judged by its customers to provide a higher level of expertise than the three major consulting firms McKinsey, BCG and Roland Berger. more

The study is performed once every three years, and a consulting company cannot apply for a “Hidden Award” nomination or award. The pre-selection is based purely on suggestions from an independent expert committee with practical and research background, and expanded on through corresponding empirical preliminary studies carried out by the WGMB.

Kerkhoff Consulting is the leading consulting company for supply chain management: purchasing and procurement. This was the conclusion of a recent study by the business magazine CAPITAL together with the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Management und Beratung (WGMB), a research institute for management and consulting. The company took first place in this category in 2015 for the third time running.

Professor Dietmar Fink from the WGMB explains: “Kerkhoff Consulting once again winning the Hidden Champion award for SCM/purchasing and procurement is testament to the company’s consistent best performance over the past nine years.” The results of the study clearly show that Kerkhoff Consulting speaks the language of SMEs. After all, the company is number one when it comes to supply management and implementation strength – far ahead of major consultants Roland Berger, McKinsey & Company and KPMG.

The results of the WGMB study also place Kerkhoff Consulting at the top in the “implementation strength” evaluation segment. “Our study shows that the central requirement that companies have for their consultants is a strong practical focus. The first place in this specific evaluation category is evidence that the consultants at Kerkhoff Consulting understand companies’ needs and focus their approach accordingly” explains Professor Dietmar Fink from the WGMB.

In a nationwide comparison of consultancies, Kerkhoff Consulting and Kerkhoff Cost Engineering were bestowed the award "Top Consultant" in the categories Management Consultant and Technical Consultant. Merely 57 consultancies from five categories had qualified – with good or excellent assessments – more

– for the award which is based on assessments by clients.

For the supply chain specialists of Kerkhoff Consulting, this is already the third consecutive award as Top Consultant and, after the very recent award as "Beste Berater 2015" (Best Consultants 2015) by brand eins and Statista, this is the second award in the same year.

At the same time, clients of Kerkhoff Cost Engineering also assessed correspondingly positively its technical consulting services in the areas of cost calculation and value engineering.

Dirk Schäfer, Chairman of the Management Board of Kerkhoff Consulting GmbH, says: "Although the satisfaction of our clients is the most important reward for us, this renewed award as SMB consultancy makes us very proud." Güray Karaca, Chairman of Kerkhoff Cost Engineering GmbH adds: "The award for Kerkhoff Cost Engineering as Top Consultant in the category Technical Consultant and the associated assessment that our convincing services speak the language of the German SMB sector further motivate us and spur us on in the team of 'consultants in overalls'."

"Top Consultant" examines the participants' consulting performance based on a comprehensive procedure with the emphasis on client satisfaction, performance and professionalism of the consultants. The seal which is intended to offer orientation for SMBs in the consultancy jungle is being awarded for the sixth time already. As mentor of the consultancy competition, Germany's former Federal President, Christian Wulff, honored Kerkhoff Consulting GmbH and Kerkhoff Cost Engineering GmbH at the German SMB Summit in Essen on June 26.

Crucial for being successful in the scientifically underpinned benchmarking is a client-specific, SMB-oriented consulting performance. This was reviewed by Prof. Dr. Dietmar Fink of the University of Applied Sciences of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and by Bianka Knoblach. Both of them are managing the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Management und Beratung (WGMB – Scientific Company for Management and Consulting). Within the scope of the analysis, ten reference clients each of the contestants were interviewed about their satisfaction with the pertinent company, and its performance and consulting services were examined. Mentor of the competition is Germany's former Federal President Christian Wulff. For further information see www.top-consultant.de.

2014 - Top Consultant

In a nation-wide comparison of consultancies, Kerkhoff Consulting received the award "Top Consultant". Only 100 consultancies may bear the coveted "Top Consultant 2014" seal. They are thus designated as particularly suitable consultants for the SME sector. more

The seal helps small and medium-sized enterprises to find a suitable provider of consulting services in the complex and formidable consultancy market. The consultancies had subjected themselves to the demanding and ambitious certification procedures by Prof. Dr. Dietmar Fink from the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. The 100 consultancies that were awarded with the seal demonstrated within the course of the "Top Consultant" competition that they are able to adjust and be attuned to small and medium-sized enterprises.

"Because only those knowing the characteristic features of SMEs and taking them also into account will be designated as a top consultant," said the responsible parties of the jury. Prof. Fink verifies this, inter alia, by means of a customer survey. Ten reference customers will provide information on the professionalism and consulting performance of the consultancies. Moreover, the customer must provide an evaluation and indicate business ratios.

For the fifth time already, compamedia and Prof. Fink conducted the "Top Consultant" comparison throughout Germany. The consultancies that received the award obtained excellent or good benchmarking results. "The consultancy market is still very complex and confusing and has no clear definition. 'Top Consultant' establishes criteria and renders the performance of consultants more transparent. The customer survey provides credibility and reliability", said Prof. Fink about the competition.

"I was recently asked whether I would still be pleased about yet another award", said Gerd Kerkhoff and added: "I do notice certain expectations on the part of our clients but also among our own consultants. I'm particularly delighted about this development because it shows that our entrepreneurial efforts seem to be going in the right direction. Such positive evaluations by our clients motivate our entire team to strive for yet more top performances."
